Sioux Central keeps perfect record intact with 44-20 win

Monday, October 9, 2000

PETERSON - Cody Tibbetts ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as Sioux Central overcame the loss of Jeff Madsen to keep its unbeaten record intact at 7-0 with a 44-20 victory over Harris-Lake Park in an 8-game game Friday night.

Madsen, who plays halfback and linebacker, injured his leg on the third play of the game.

"When Madsen went out early in the game, that changed my game plan a little bit, so we became more wide open," Sioux Central coach Jeff Tiefenthaler said. "We tried to move the ball around to different people. It's great to be 7-0 with this group."

Tibbetts scored on TD runs of 3 and 6 yards and threw a 20-yard pass to Jason Brown. Tyler Lindquist had touchdown runs of 1 and 3 yards, while Mike Ruhs scored on an 8-yard run. Lindquist finished with 72 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Josh Carlson had eight tackles to lead the Rebels on defense.
