Updates from the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.

ACCIDENTS

On Oct. 1 at 2:10 a.m., a hit and run accident occurred at the Hudson Street and East Lakeshore Drive intersection. An unknown vehicle was traveling south on Hudson Street, struck the stop sign on the west side of Hudson Street and then left eastbound on East Lakeshore Drive. Damage to the stop sign was $50.

On Oct. 2 at 3:02 p.m., an accident occurred in the parking lot at 1501 Lake Avenue. A 2000 Mercury, owned by Ford Motor Credit Company, West Des Moines, and driven by Kyle Cejka, 201 Superior Street, Storm Lake, was parked in the parking lot. A 1992 Chevy, owned by Spectra Health Care, Storm Lake, and driven by Andrea Wendt, Denison, while backing southbound, struck the Ford Motor Credit Company vehicle. Damage was estimated at $750 to the Ford Motor Credit Company vehicle and none to the Spectra Health Care vehicle.

On Sept. 29 at 9 a.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of Bair Street and Seneca Street. A 1987 Pontiac driven by Nancy Waites, 37, Alta, was northwest bound on Bair Street. A 1991 Jeep, driven by Rachel Cerizo, 32, 309 Oneida Street, Storm Lake, was southbound on Seneca Street and the vehicles collided. Cerizo was charged with Fail To Yield To Vehicle On Right. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Waites vehicle and $2,500 to the Cerizo vehicle.

On Sept. 29 at 1 p.m., an accident occurred in a parking stall at First Federal Plaza, 1415 Lake Avenue. A 1990 Dodge, driven by Isabel Barron, 26, 111 Superior Street, Storm Lake, was pulling into a parking stall. A 1999 Ford, driven by Angela Canales, 23, 1409 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, was backing from a parking stall and the vehicles collided. Damage was $400 to the Barron vehicle and $200 to the Canales vehicle.

VANDALISM

On Sept. 28, Mike Rust, Storm Lake, reported the rear driver side of his vehicle scratched on Sept. 8 at an unknown location in Storm Lake. Damage was $500.

On Oct. 2, Michael Reinert of Olsen Welding, 123 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake, reported a window of a garage door broken out during the night of Sept. 30. Damage was estimated at $21.

On Sept. 10, Noe Casco, 130 Mae Street, Storm Lake, reported that two tires on his pickup had been deflated while parked at his residence. Damage was estimated at $30.

BURGLARIES

On Oct. 3, Davanh Bourommavong of the Indochine Pavilion restaurant, 1411 East Lakeshore Drive, Storm Lake, reported a burglary to the restaurant during the night of Oct. 2. Entry was gained by ripping a hole in the roof. Stolen from the restaurant was a Buddah statue valued at $200. Damage to the roof was $2,000.

On Oct. 3, Lee Meylor, owner of the building at 1411 East Lakeshore Drive, reported a burglary at the Church of Latter Day Saints, located at that location where the ceiling was damaged during the night of Oct. 2.
