Mini golf, soldier welcome, food and crafts at Ridiculous Days

It's that time of the year again! The Fourth of July is over and the summer sales will soon begin. Ridiculous Days in Storm Lake is planned for Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26.

There are two big days of sidewalk sales and activities for everyone. The merchants are planning numerous specials to be set out on the blocked-off streets, Friday's from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday will offer something extra special when the Hy-Noon Kiwanis Club will be constructing the first annual Storm Lake Ridiculous Mini Golf course in the middle of Lake Avenue between Sixth and Railroad. Each of the nine holes will be sponsored by local businesses. Patrons can play the course and win prizes while shopping the great bargains. Challenge your family and friends to a round of Ridiculous Mini Golf when you visit your favorite Storm Lake businesses.

The homecoming caravan for Guard soldiers will offer some excitement Saturday at 10 a.m. when they parade through the Ridiculous Days festivities downtown on their way to the high school for a special ceremony.

The Storm Lake High School Thespians Speech Department will be having a bake sale at the Forbes Shoe building Saturday morning to earn money for their spring 2004 New York trip.

Buena Vista County 4-H'ers will be on hand from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. in front of Security Trust and Saving Bank to present their Working Exhibits. You can make and take a fun new craft or maybe learn more about food, among other things. It is a fun-filled event for everyone from kids to adults.

A Taste of Storm Lake meal will be served on Central Bank's corner on Saturday, sponsored by the Hy-Noon Kiwanis Community Sailing Club. All proceeds will go toward the youth sailing program. Enjoy a tasty sandwich while shopp
