SM outlasts Sac City - PREP/COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP

STORM LAKE - Peggy Ploeger went 17-for-20 in serving with four aces and Angie Laven was 12-for-14 with four aces as Storm Lake St. Mary's topped Sac City 11-15, 15-6, 15-9, 12-15, 15-9 in Northwest Conference play Tuesday night.

Erin Nurse went 13-for-15 in serving with two aces. Katie Drey charted four kills, while Laven and Jenny Petersen each had one.

Nurse made good on 47 of 51 set attempts. Laven and Allison Snyder each had two digs. Ploeger and Drey tallied three blocks apiece.

LeMars 15-15-15, Storm Lake 5-5-1

Michelle Bowman charted 21 set assists and Jill Parman added 15, but it wasn't enough as LeMars handed Storm Lake a setback in a Lakes Conference match Monday night at LeMars.

Val Anspach served four points for the Tornadoes, now 0-6 in the league and 5-15 overall. Parman, Bowman and Ranae Halder all served two points each. Toni Khounlo had two kills, while Meredith Stille and Karen Sennert each had one.

* LeMars won the junior varsity match 8-15, 17-15, 15-4. Lisa Bowman had nine good serves and two aces, and also had 15 sets with four assists. Jenni Wendt had 14 sets with one assist. Lindsey Frederiksen charted six attacks with four kills, while Tawny Hendriks tallied six attacks with one kill for Storm Lake, now 2-7 overall.

SL St. Mary's 15-11-15-13-17

Sioux Central 10-15-11-15-15

Storm Lake St. Mary's outlasted Sioux Central in Northwest Conference play Monday night. Julie Goettsch went 20-for-21 in serving with five aces for Sioux Central. Beth Sickelka was 20-for-21 and Michelle Grover 11-for-12.

Grover charted 25 attacks with eight kills, Holly Beacom added 24 with seven kills, Leslie McCall 23 with 10 kills and Goettsch 22 with seven kills. Ann Krummen tallied 47 sets with nine assists, while Sickelka had 44 sets with eight assists. Sickelka charted six blocks. Krummen came up with 15 digs, Sickelka 10 and Beacom nine.

Alta 15-15-15, Sac City 8-0-2

Ashlea Payne went 9-for-9 in hitting with six kills and was 13-for-13 in serving with three aces as Alta knocked off Sac City in a Northwest Conference match Monday. Laurie Grieme went 8-for-9 in hitting with four kills, while Nicole Kjolhede was 7-for-8 with three kills.

Megan Brechwald was 11-for-11 in serving, Jamie Snyder 7-for-7, Tigist Cook 6-for-6, and Kjolhede and Brooke Ryherd were each 8-for-9. Danielle Allen charted 16 set assists. Allen, Kjolhede, Brechwald, Payne, Nikki Sliefert and Shandra Walker all had three digs apiece. Grieme charted three blocks for Alta, now 5-2 in the league and 10-5 overall.

Pomeroy-Palmer 15-15-15, AC-T 2-1-4

Pomeroy-Palmer topped Albert City-Truesdale in Northwest Conference action Monday. Karla Hogrefe went 14-for-18 in hitting with four kills. Emily Ehlers was 12-for-12 with five kills. Lindsey Lullmann was 8-for-8 in serving, while Ehlers and Alicia Lovin were each 4-for-4.

Lullmann made good on 10 of 22 set attempts with three assists. Hogrefe charted seven digs and April Schuknecht four for AC-T, now 5-2 in the league and 9-7 overall.
