Funeral services for Dorothy H. Johnson, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids with Rev. Ray Miller officiating.
Casketbearers are Mark Freeman, Geoff Willfong, Doug Small, Phil Wellmerling, Steve Ruhs and Gary Gilmore. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Sliefert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1 in Spencer.
Dorothy was born on May 24, 1921, in Sioux Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Emma Olson. She was baptized on July 24, 1921 in the First Lutheran Church at Sioux Rapids. She was confirmed on April 26, 1936 at that same church.
She attended grade school in Sioux Rapids from 1926 to 1934 and later attended high school at Cornell, graduating with the class of 1938.
On Feb. 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Vinton Freeman at Jackson, Minn. To this union one child, Dwayne Freeman, was born. On Oct. 21, 1954, she married Melford Johnson at Jackson, Minn. To this union, two children, Nancy Heideman and Dennis Johnson, were born.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers: Elmer Olson and Wilmar Olson and one grandson Ryan Willfong.
She is survived by her children Dwayne and his wife Pam Freeman of Spencer; Nancy and her husband Lynn Heideman of Spencer and Dennis Johnson, also of Spencer; one brother Art Olson of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two sisters: Elenora Gilmore of Linn Grove and Leota Wellmerling of Spencer; one sister-in-law Evelyn Farb of Rockferd, Ill.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
