On Sept. 28 at 5:10 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department initiated an investigation into an alleged child abuse case which was reported to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Police were on location at a residence located at 204 Grand Street beginning to investigate the incident when a subject arrived driving a vehicle who was identified as the suspect. Officers made contact with the subject, identified as Randall Huston, 46, of Storm Lake and determined he was intoxicated.
Huston was arrested and charged with OWI 2nd Offense and Public Intoxication. He was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail where he was booked in on a $6,825.00 cash bond.
Police continued the investigation into the child abuse and determined the alleged offense involved Huston grabbing his 14-year old daughter and dragging her across the floor. The child sustained bruising to her chest but was not seriously injured.
Based on the subsequent investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Huston, charging him with Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor). Police located Huston on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 8:10 p.m. and took him into custody where he was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $6,500.00 cash bond.
