Seven Buena Vista University graduates from Storm Lake served as panelists at BVU's Career Symposium on Friday, Sept. 29.
They were Allison Rasmussen, a 1997 graduate and a music teacher at St. Mary's School; Jacquie Bauer, a 1997 BVU-Lakes & Prairies graduate and an elementary teacher for Storm Lake Community Schools; Ryan Berg, a 1997 graduate and a high school English teacher at St. Mary's High School; Diane Jones, a 1977 graduate and a media specialist for Storm Lake Community Schools; Joan Niles, a 1978 graduate, M.D. for Trimark-Family Health Clinic; Timothy Redenbaugh, a 1994 graduate, doctor/owner for Redenbaugh Chiropractic Clinic and Randy Crampton, a 1973 graduate, podiatrist for Foot and Ankle Clinic.
The Career Symposium gave BVU students the opportunity to network with alumni and listen as they shared their professional experiences. They were among the 60 BVU graduates from the fields of accounting, art/music, communication, computer technology, education, finance, law, management, marketing, science, exercise science and social work and counseling who offered career advice to current students.
The alumni panelists also spoke on such issues as making the transition from BVU to work, dual career relationships, starting your own business, getting and making the most of an internship, if and when to attend graduate or professional school, job search tips, personal finance tips, community service opportunities and success on the job.
