EARLY - Jacob Brosamle scored a pair of touchdowns and that proved to be enough as Galva-Holstein got past Schaller-Crestland 14-13 in a Class 1A district game Friday.
Brosamle returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown with less than a minute to go in the first half. He later added a 4-yard run in the third quarter.
Schaller-Crestland got on the board first with a 30-yard TD pass from Justin Bellcock to Tim Galvin. The Wildcats' Kelly Rydberg scored on a 35-yard run with 4 minutes remaining in the game, but the extra point was wide right, leaving the Pirates with a 14-13 lead.
"We outplayed them the whole game," Schaller-Crestland coach Dale Tokheim said. "It just didn't come out for us. The kickoff return killed us. I think our fumble hurt us when we were getting ready to drive in the third quarter. We didn't execute a couple of times when we needed to."
Rydberg rushed for 184 yards on 21 carries for the Wildcats. Matt Reimers made 15 tackles and Rydberg added nine.
