The apparent crime spree began in Pocahontas County Saturday morning and a fire at the Fonda Country Store. According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Department, a fire was reported at the Fonda Country Store at approximately 4 a.m. on Sept. 30.
The Fonda Fire Department extinguished the fire with the Newell Fire Department assisting. The extent of the damage was not available at presstime.
The next reported incident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday when the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Department received a report of a burglary at Pronto on the westside of Storm Lake.
According to Buena Vista County Sheriff Chuck Eddy, three witnesses saw an individual come from behind Pronto. The witnesses also got the license plate number of the vehicle, Eddy said.
Shortly after the Pronto break in, Storm Lake police officers were dispatched an alarm at the Storm Lake Casey's store on East Lakeshore at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
