First Federal Savings Bank of the Midwest held their third annual pork feed event to recognize agricultural neighbors and raise money for a local charity. The event was held Thursday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Federal parking lot in Storm Lake. The attendance was estimated at 400 people.
Buena Vista County Pork Producers grilled pork burgers served with chips, ice cream and a beverage for a $2 or more per plate donation. First Federal's event raised over $1,000, which was donated to the Storm Lake Community Chest to kick-off their annual fund drive.
Collin Taphorn and Helen Pingel, both of Storm Lake, won a folding sports chair and stadium blanket. These prizes are current premiums in the banks Tell-A-Friend promotion for Timeless Checking. Customers receive a free sports chair or stadium blanket when they open a new Timeless Checking account.
Jennifer Peters of Storm Lake won an overnight stay and Sunday brunch for two at the Carrollton Center, Carroll, compliments of KAYL.
Don Behm was the raffle winner of a 19-inch color television donated by Iowa Office Supply.
James Haahr, President and CEO, commented, "We extend our appreciation to the businesses that contributed items for the pork feed: American Rental, Buena Vista Stationery and Printing, Burger King, Chesterman Company, Fareway, Griller's Choice, Iowa Office Supply, Old Dutch, Wells Blue Bunny and the B.V. County Pork Producers. First Federal is proud to continue this fund raising event and support our local community and the Community Chest."
