AC-T drops pair of matches at S-C; Galva-Holstein wins five

SCHALLER - Karla Hogrefe went 56-for-64 in hitting with 29 kills to help Albert City-Truesdale win one of three matches in the Schaller-Crestland Tournament on Saturday.

AC-T lost to sixth-ranked Wall Lake-View-Auburn 16-14, 15-6 and Rockwell City-Lytton 15-8, 15-13, but beat Charter Oak-Ute 15-12, 15-7.

Emily Ehlers went 34-for-41 in hitting with 23 kills for the Hurricanes. Lindsey Lullmann went 29-for-29 in serving, while Hogrefe was 21-for-22 and Ehlers 21-for-24. Greta Aronson was 17-for-20, April Schuknecht 14-for-17, Steph Fales 13-for-16 and Lori Hogrefe 10-for-10 in serving.

Lullman made good on 51 of 70 set attempts with 23 assists, while Schuknecht was 33 of 49 with 14 assists.

Karla Hogrefe charted 30 digs, while Ehlers added 20 and Schuknecht 14. Amanda Skog recorded nine blocks and Mandy Schramm eight.

Maple Valley Conference

Galva-Holstein won all five of its matches in pool play during the Maple Valley Conference tournament held on Saturday.

The Pirates beat Woodbury Central 15-4, 15-1; Remsen Union 15-6, 15-12; West Monona 15-2, 15-4; Lawton-Bronson 15-5, 15-10; and Odebolt-Arthur 15-8, 10-15, 15-11.

Darci Vohs charted 52 kills, 27 digs, five ace serves and 15 blocks for the Pirates. Kris Beyer tallied 37 kills, 20 digs and 12 blocks.

Shelley Cronin recorded 17 kills, 42 digs and seven ace serves, while Stacy Friedrichsen charted 30 set assists, 12 digs, 11 blocks and four ace serves. Taneal Jepsen contributed 38 digs, eight kills and three ace serves for the Pirates, who are now 23-1-2 overall.

HMS Tournament

Newell-Fonda dropped three matches in the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Tournament on Saturday. The Mustangs lost to Armstrong-Ringsted 15-3, 15-9; West Sioux 15-7, 15-5; and Rock Valley 15-6, 15-4.

Lindsay Jensen went 11-for-12 in serving with three aces and also collected 16 sets. Amanda Kies was 15-for-16 with nine aces and went 9-for-9 in hitting with five kills.

Sara Larsen went 11-for-12 in serving with four aces, 6-for-8 in hitting with five kills, and tallied six blocks. Ashley Bellinghausen was 10-for-11 in hitting with five kills.

Molly Sievers went 6-for-8 in hitting with four kills and also charted six blocks for the Mustangs. Jenny Scharn was 23-for-27 in setting with seven assists and Erin Kies contributed 13 digs.
