A handful of hot bats helped Newell-Fonda to the Highway 7 Tournament championship on Saturday in Alta, pounding out 12 hits in each of its first two games and eight in its third to score a combined 39 runs on the day.
Newell-Fonda 21, Aurelia 0
A 14-run third inning ended a first-round game against Aurelia early, as every Mustang who played either had a hit, RBI or scored a run.
Hetrick kept the Bulldogs at bay with a no-hitter through three innings, but the play of the Mustang offense was the story of the game, as Newell-Fonda scored seven in the first two innings and then doubled that output in the third.
Destiny Sievers went 1-3 with three RBI and scored twice, Amanda Devereaux and Abbey Wells each scored three times, Amanda Hanson had a two-RBI double and Tiffany Parker and Michelle Grau each had RBI hits.
