PREP VOLLEYBALL - N-F outlasts St. Mary's; AC-T, Aurelia prevail

STORM LAKE - Lindsay Jensen went 25-for-26 in serving and charted 32 sets and seven digs to help Newell-Fonda outlast Storm Lake St. Mary's 15-4, 6-15, 16-14, 12-15, 15-5 in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday night.

Sara Larsen led the Mustangs in hitting, going 21-for-24 with eight kills. Amanda Kies was 12-for-14 with three kills and 19-for-22 in serving with six aces. Jenny Scharn made good on 32 of 34 set attempts with eight assists. Ashley Loos was 5-for-5 in serving and Erin Kies charted 19 digs.

Albert City-Truesdale 15-9-16-7-15, Alta 6-15-14-15-10

Karla Hogrefe went 35-for-39 in hitting with 18 kills, while Emily Ehlers was 36-for-43 with 16 kills as Albert City-Truesdale knocked off Alta. Lindsey Lullmann went 13-for-13 in serving, while April Schuknecht was 17-for-19, Hogrefe 23-for-26, Ehlers 16-for-19 and Lori Hogrefe 12-for-15. Schuknecht was 45 of 77 in setting with 17 assists, while Lullmann was 33 of 46 with 12 assists. Ehlers charted 27 digs, Hogrefe 23 and Schuknecht 14.

Ashlea Payne led Alta in hitting, going 24-for-31 with 17 kills. Nicole Kjolhede was 41-for-43 with 13 kills and Laurie Grieme 19-for-21 with 11 kills. Megan Brechwald led the serving effort, going 14-for-14. Kjolhede was 18-for-19, Megan Norris 15-for-16, Payne 13-for-14, and Tigist Cook 11-for-12. Danielle Allen tallied 35 set assists. Payne charted 14 digs for Alta, now 7-2 overall.

Aurelia 11-15-7-15-15, Sioux Central 15-5-15-12-13

Emily Jipp went 32-for-39 in hitting with 15 kills and 24-for-24 in serving with 10 aces as Aurelia rallied to win the last two games and get past Sioux Central. Kim Parker went 28-for-29 in hitting with nine kills and was 17-for-17 in serving with two aces.

Liz Scharton was 16-for-21 in hitting with three kills and Kati Nelson 11-for-13. Lindsay Ireland made good on 33 of 34 set attempts with 10 assists, while Jessica Monical was 29 of 30 with five assists and Jill Smith 19 of 19 with five assists.

Ann Krummen led Sioux Central in serving by going 27-for-27 with nine aces. Beth Sickelka was 13-for-13, Jen Brees 8-for-8, Julie Goettsch 19-for-20 with three aces and Jaclyn Heide 11-for-12 with two aces. Leslie McCall led in hitting with 15 kills. Heide added 11, Sickelka nine and Brees six. Krummen charted 12 digs, while McCall and Brees had 11 each. Heide tallied 11 blocks.

Galva-Holstein 15-15-15, River Valley 3-3-7

Darci Vohs charted 13 kills, five digs and two blocks to help Galva-Holstein beat River Valley Thursday. Kris Beyer added nine kills, nine digs and four ace serves for the Pirates, now 18-1-2 overall. Shelley Cronin had six kills, 11 digs and three ace serves. Stacy Friedrichsen tallied 30 set assists, four kills and three digs. Taneal Jepsen added seven digs and three kills.

Storm Lake Seventh Grade

The Storm Lake "A" team defeated Cherokee 15-4, 15-9, 15-11. Rachel Swanson went 17-for-17 in serving and Trisha Halder was 12-for-13. The "B" team won 9-15, 15-9, 15-5. Stephanie Rude was 11-for-11 in serving and Angie Schmidt 7-for-8. The "C" team won 8-15, 15-4, 15-7. Jasmine Carrasco went 26-for-29 in serving.
