Alta makes it two wins in a row

Sunday, September 24, 2000

"Offensively, we set the tone right off the bat with that big run," Alta coach Kevin Hammer said. "Our offensive line just did a super job. There were big holes all night long. Defensively, I thought we improved from last week. We did a good job swarming to the football. Our secondary played well and we didn't give up the big play."

Alta jumped out to a 22-0 lead at halftime thanks to touchdown runs of 64 and 9 yards by Jon Nielsen, and a 45-yard interception return by Tyler DeMan.

Eric Hanson then scored on a 93-yard run for the Cyclones to make the score 30-0. Nielsen then scampered 30 yards for a touchdown.

Nielsen wasn't finished as he caught a 27-yard TD pass from Josh Droegmiller. Tom Allerdings capped the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run.

Nielsen rushed for 194 yards on 20 carries, while Hansen had 166 yards on 13 attempts.

Luke Nielsen and Nate Wiese each had 11 tackles.
