For the past five years, the Storm Lake United Methodist Church has been offering to the community an inter-denominational workshop series.
The Divorce Recovery Workshop is designed to help people who are experiencing a divorce or recovering from a divorce. The workshop, in its beginning, was the joint effort of former Pastor David Swinton and Beverlye Nelson.
This workshop will once again be offered this fall beginning on Monday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, 211 E. 3rd Street. The sensitive, Christian-based curriculum is designed to help divorcing or recently divorced persons find healing, build supportive relationships and new directions in their lives. The topics, presented by video and discussion, will include: feelings experienced in a divorce, coping with the past, dealing with anger and depression, caring for kids, handling finances, working on forgiveness, forming new goals, looking at new relationships and other topics pertinent to the needs of the persons in the workshop. Beverlye Nelson, a professional counselor, continues to lead the workshop.
The workshop is limited to 12 persons. The cost is $10 for the 10-week session. For more information, call the United Methodist Church at 732-5458.
