SL man caught in vandalism

Sunday, September 24, 2000

On Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7:20 p.m., Storm Lake Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Hy-Vee store on North Lake Avenue in reference to a vandalism that had just occurred and the victim was detaining the suspect.

Officers learned a subject had deliberately scratched the door of a Jeep Cherokee with a key while the owner of the vehicle was sitting in the jeep. The owner exited the vehicle and detained the suspect until the arrival of police.

In their investigation, police determined that approximately $300.00 damage was done to the vehicle and the suspect, Ethan Lindsay, 72, of Storm Lake had damaged a second vehicle with a key in the same parking lot on Sept. 13, 2000, causing approximately $500 damage to that vehicle.

Lindsay was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He was processed at the Buena Vista County Jail and released pending a court date.
