SIOUX CITY - The luxury of depth showed its pretty head Tuesday night as it helped give Storm Lake a 96-74 victory over Sioux City East in a dual girls swim meet.
Kayla Snow was a double-winner for the Tornadoes, taking the 200 individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 38.19 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:10.75. The 200 freestyle relay team of Kristin Rude, Billie Blanchard, Nichole Ahlers and Kelly Schultz placed first with a clocking of 1:54.65.
Finishing second were Megan Kestel in the 200 freestyle in 2:15.72 and the 500 freestyle in 6:11.09, Rude in the 50 freestyle in 28.20 seconds, Ahlers in the 100 freestyle in 1:05.02 and Schultz in the 100 breast stroke in a time of 1:22.46.
Three relays finished second - the 200 medley team of Snow, Kelly Larson, Amber Griffin and Schultz with a time of 2:10.22, the 200 freestyle unit of Griffin, Matty Richardson, Megan Bishop and Steph Klar in 2:00.83, and the 400 freestyle team of Schultz, Kestel, Ahlers and Snow in a clocking of 4:15.
Collecting third-place finishes were Jill Kestel in the 200 freestyle in 2:21.70 and the 500 freestyle in 6:21.24, Natalie Gamache in the 200 individual medley in 2:57.39, Schultz in the 50 freestyle in 28.40 seconds, Griffin in the 100 butterfly in 1:18.22, Emily Holliday in the 100 freestyle in 1:05.54, Lyndsey Reinert in the 100 backstroke in 1:19.14, Angie Hohneke in the 100 breast stroke in 1:24.17, the 200 medley relay in 2:18.9, and the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:47.87.
