Activities planned for SLHS Homecoming 2000

Tuesday is Send 'em Back to Pre-School Day, with the class competitions getting underway at 8:15 a.m. In the evening, the cross country team will travel to Sheldon and the girls swimming team will head to Sioux City East for a meet beginning at 4:30 p.m At 7:30 p.m., it's the powder puff football game. Admission is a box of Kleenex or $1.00

Wednesday is designated as Shake, Rattle and Roll the Hawks. The student body will vote for the Homecoming King and Queen by ballots in their home rooms. There will be a sale of Homecoming buttons at the high school, middle school and elementary schools. There will be a class competition and pep meeting at 3:05 p.m. The volleyball team will be in action at Hull Western-Christian. The car smash will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the SLHS parking lot.

Thursday features Blast From the Past and begins with class competitions at 8:15 a.m. in the gym. The coronation ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium, followed by a pep rally at 8 p.m., sponsored by the cheerleaders.

The week-long activities culminate on Friday with Goin' on a Hawk Hunt. The cheerleaders and football players will be at the elementary schools and a pep rally at the middle school will begin at 1:15 p.m. Classes will dismiss for the day at 1:30 p.m. and the Homecoming parade will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Booster Club will get the evening's entertainment going with a tailgate party at 6 p.m. The big game, which will pit the Tornadoes against the BH-RV Hawks, will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at Tornado Field. Face painting will be available, courtesy of the Art Club, during the first half of the game. Half time festivities include the introduction of the Homecoming royalty.

The Homecoming Dance will be held at the student center from 9:45 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. The doors will close at 10:30 p.m. and tickets are $3 per person or $5 per couple and may be purchased at the door.
