Alta tops Newell-Fonda; AC-T clips Aurelia

ALTA -Laurie Grieme went 21-for-24 in hitting with 10 kills, and Ashlea Payne was 23-for-24 in serving with six aces to help lift Alta to a four-game victory over Newell-Fonda Tuesday night. Alta won by scores of 16-14, 13-15, 15-4, 15-5.

Payne was 16-for-27 in hitting with six kills, while Nicole Kjolhede was 21-for-29 with fove kills. Brooke Ryherd went 17-for-17 in serving, while Kjolhede was 15-for-15 and Megan Brechwald 10-for-10. Tigist Cook was 12-for-13. Danielle Allen charted 21 set assists, while Payne added five digs and Grieme four blocks for Alta, now 1-1 in the league and 2-1 overall.

"We were able to get our offense going because we had excellent serving and we got our passes to our setter," Alta coach jeannie Henningsen said.

Albert City-Truesdale 10-15-15-8-15, Aurelia 15-9-5-15-7

Karla Hogrefe went 37-for-46 in hitting with 17 kills, and Lindsey Lullmann was 16-for-16 in serving to help Albert City-Truesdale outlast Aurelia in five games in Northwest Conference play Tuesday. Emily Ehlers was 23-for-28 in hitting with six kills. Lori Hogrefe went 11-for-11 in serving, while April Schuknecht was 13-for-14, Hogrefe 13-for-16 and Alicia Lovin 14-for-17.

Lullmann made good on 27 of 51 set attempts with 11 assists, while Schuknecht was 29 of 43 with seven assists. Karla Hogrefe charted 13 digs, Ehlers 11 and Lovin eight. Mandy Schramm contributed six blocks, while Schuknecht added four.

Emily Jipp led Aurelia in hitting by going 48-for-53 with 11 kills. Kim Parker was 25-for-30 with four kills and Liz Scharton 18-for-22 with three kills. Mary Keith went 9-for-9 in serving, Parker was 17-for-18, Jipp 10-for-12 with four aces and Mel Corrington 10-for-11.

Lindsay Ireland made good on 41 of 42 set attempts with nine assists. Jessica Monical was 34 of 34 with four assists. Parker had 12 digs and Scharton 10 blocks for Aurelia, now 0-3 overall.

Lakeland 15-15-15, Sioux Central 9-0-7

Lakeland handed Sioux Central a setback Monday night. Julie Goettsch went 11-for-12 in serving, while Jaclyn Heide was 5-for-6. Goettsch charted seven digs and Michelle Grover added four.
