Galva-Holstein wins Class A girls title, Estherville takes AA

STORM LAKE - Laura Jacobson finished third overall out of 64 runners and Donna Hanson placed fourth to help Galva-Holstein win the Class A girls team title in the Storm Lake Invitational cross country meet Tuesday.

Galva-Holstein scored 50 points, followed by LM-ACT with 78, Pocahontas 86, LeMars Gehlen 125, Hinton 138, Alta 187 and Aurelia 239.

Jacobson posted a time of 13 minutes, 14 seconds, while Hanson finished in a time of 13:24. Abbie Bagenstos of Galva-Holstein was 11th in 13:47 and teammate Melanie Vollmar placed 12th in 13:48.

LM-ACT's Tiffany Dallenbach was the overall winner with a time of 12:39. Carmen Moss of LM-ACT finished second with a time of 13:06. Teammate Brooke Ferguson was sixth in a time of 13:32.

Sioux Central's Melanie Thompson placed seventh with a time of 13:36.

Alta's Ashley Loehr finished 23rd with a time of 14:40, while Alyssa Loehr was 32nd in 15:21. Amy Demers placed 43rd in 16:01, while Casi Flink and Brooke Sliefert tied for 44th place with times of 16:05. Diana Paup was 56th.

* Storm Lake had two runners compete in the varsity division and two in the junior varsity. Angie Pearson finished 36th with a time of 14:10, while Steph Stanley was 59th in 15:18. Christina Brink was 28th in the JV race with a time of 15:56, while Amy Wulfekuhler was 33rd in 16:05. Both of those times were season bests.

Storm Lake's Ashley Solem placed 26th in the middle school girls race with a time of 7:20.

Approximately 188 runners competed in three divisions of the girls race and 205 runners competed in the boys division.

Storm Lake runs at the Sheldon Invitational next Tuesday.
