The Storm Lake United Methodist Church will hold ground breaking ceremonies on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the remodeling and additions to the church.
Plans include the renovation of the sanctuary, the building of a Family Life Center to the north of the present structure and a corridor on the west side of the church.
Included in the renovation of the sanctuary are a new tracker pipe organ, reconstructed chancel area and an audio-visual, video presentation system.
The Family Life Center will consist of a fellowship hall, kitchen and handicapped restrooms. A library, large elevator and ground level entrance to the sanctuary will be included in the west corridor.
Construction is expected to begin in October, according to co-chairmen of the building project, Jim Brown and Greg Burnside.
