The City of Alta will have a free pickup of junk items from local residents during the month of June.
The following items should be on the curb by 7 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, June 3: All appliances, except those containing a refrigerant (refrigerators and freezers that are disconnected and properly degassed will be picked up), objects primarily made of metal such as bicycles, lawn mowers and grills, and furniture items such as sofas, mattresses and televisions.
Wooden items, including tree limbs and other wooden objects, will be picked up on Tuesday, June 10. The City asks that the length of wooden items be limited to four or five feet.
Tires, batteries and construction and demolition materials will not be picked up by the City. Liquids such as paint, chemicals, waste oil, antifreeze, and hazardous materials may be disposed of free of charge during the household toxic waste cleanups held in the county every few months. Call the Rowley Recycling Center at 732-7171 for more information.
This cleanup is intended for Alta residents only. No articles will be accepted from non-residents.
