Wind wreaks havoc for Tornado golfers

Monday, April 28, 2003

Andy Berg fired a 41 to lead Storm Lake in a boys golf triangular meet played on Wednesday at Estherville.

Estherville and LeMars each carded a 169. Storm Lake finished with a 181.

"We just didn't shoot very well overall," Storm Lake coach Tim Keigan said. "We just can't seem to put it all together. It was awfully windy again for the meet but we just need to play through that because that is just springtime golf. Hopefully, we get out of this slump and start putting up some better scores."

Jay Severson carded a 44 for the Tornadoes, while Adam Ponsor and Tyler Wendt each golfed a 48. Ben Thompson shot a 54 and Ryan Brandt came in with a 56.

LeMars carded a 179 to win the junior varsity meet. Estherville shot a 182 and Storm Lake a 198.

Sam Jennett had the low score for Storm Lake with a 46. Brian Cook finished with a 47, Travis Wendt a 52, Zach Peterson a 53, and Justin Mason and Adam Strandberg each shot a 57.
