SL netters fall to Spencer

Thursday, April 24, 2003

Spencer won all six singles matches and then proceeded to take all three doubles matches as well to post a 9-0 victory over Storm Lake on Monday at the BVU courts.

The loss was the first of the season in four meets for the Tornadoes.

"There were several hard-fought matches of which we just fell short," Storm Lake coach Ron Netten said. "Spencer is a consistent and athletic team, and has raised the bar for us. We just need a few breakthroughs in singles to give us more momentum into doubles. This gives us material to go to work on in practice."

Spencer won the junior varsity match 6-3. Sanh Mounethep and Tony Lara won in singles play for Storm Lake. Mounethep and Erik Borke teamed up for a win in doubles.
