Cyclone boys win Alta Relays title

Alta placed first in six events to win the boys team title at the Alta Coed Relays on Tuesday night in Alta.

Alta scored 125 points to beat Remsen St. Mary's by 31 points. Aurelia was third with 75, Albert City-Truesdale fourth with 49 and Storm Lake St. Mary's fifth with 41.

Josh Hyde of AC-T won the shot put with a new meet and school record throw of 49 feet, 6 inches. Aurelia's Ryan Fitzgerald was fourth in 42-4 3/4, Alta's Josh Mann fifth in 40-9 1/2 and Aurelia's Ryan Radke sixth in 38-7 1/4. Fitzgerald placed third in the discus with a throw of 111-7. Radke was fourth in 109-5 1/2, Hyde fifth in 107-2 1/5 and Alta's Adam Pedersen sixth with a throw of 104-4.

AC-T's Tyler Hogrefe took third in the long jump in 18-1. Alta's Jamie Hammer was fourth in 17-10, Alta's Jon Francis fifth in 17-8 and Storm Lake St. Mary's' Matthew Smith sixth in 17-8. Smith won the high jump in a season best 6-0. Alta's Brian Sauter placed third in 5-8 and Alta's Tyler Droegmiller fourth in 5-2.

Aurelia won the 4x800 relay with a time of 8 minutes, 53.33 seconds. Alta was second in 8:59.70. Aurelia's Curtis Parker won the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:44.2. Alta's Steve Hamer was second in 11:12.35, Alta's Heath Stille third in 11:24.25 and Aurelia's Garrett Hill fourth with a time of 11:28.53.

Hogrefe finished third in the 100 meters in 11.74 seconds. AC-T's Tyler Heuton was fourth in 11.99. Alta's Brian Sauter and Hammer tied for fifth in 12.19 seconds. Aurelia claimed the mile medley relay with a time of 3:57.48. Alta was second in 3:58.24 and AC-T third in a clocking of 4:19.86.
