Art Department to host visual arts show

Storm Lake High School Art Department invites the public to attend a special student art exhibit and help celebrate the visual arts of youth in Storm Lake.

The title of this year's show is Consider the Rules Broken 2003. Artwork in all categories will be on display during Friday and Sunday, April 25 and 27, at the high school gymnasium.

The juror for this year's show will be Buena Vista University's Art Professor Emeritus Dennis Dykema. Awards will be given to the top seniors; overall one best of show and bests in each art category. One-hundred fifty blue ribbons will also be awarded.

The show runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.

Jazz with Lakeside Presbyterian slated

Lakeside Presbyterian Church will be featuring a unique jazz service this Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m. This informal service will feature the combined Chancel and Roots and Wings Choirs, along with the following soloists and musicians: Al Buckingham, Dan Buckingham, Sharon Daniels, Ian MacDonald, Matt Hoskins, Mike Wells, Barb Wells, Ben Wells, Lindsey Currie, an Dick Bloyer. Flavored coffee will be available before and during the service. Special messages will be given by several lay people, and the congregation will participate in litanies and spirited hymn singing. All visitors are welcome. Lakeside Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Third Street. Church School is from 9:50 - 10:50 a.m.

Boy Scout pancake breakfast to be held

Boy Scout Troop 104 will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, April 27, at the Storm Lake Elks Lodge, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The menu will be: pancakes, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee with adults - $5 and children 6-12 only -$3.
