The annual Sister Patricia Miller Nursing Research in Practice Seminar will be held on Wednesday, April 30, in the Briar Cliff University Stark Center, Assist Room, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The theme of the seminar is "Informatics in Nursing Practice: High Tech and High Touch."
It will focus on the latest research on various technology applications within acute care and community-based settings.
The keynote presenter will be Sr. Maurita Soukup, RSM, DNSC, RN, who serves as vice president and chair of Cardiac Women's Health program, and is a cardiovascular nurse specialist at the Iowa Heart Hospital at Mercy in Des Moines.
The conference will also feature focus presentations by six nurses detailing innovative projects which integrate technology to improve care and or increase access to health care resources.
Those presenters include:
Sharon Blanche, MS, BSN, Director Cardiovascular Services Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City; Renee Seagren, BSN, RN and Jane Schadle, RNC, MSHA, PAHM of Buena Vista County Public Health; and Cindy Fink, RN and Lisa Yezek, RN of Mercy Home Care of North Iowa.
The conference has been approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing to offer 0.2 CEUs.
The cost to attend the conference is $20 if registration is made on or before April 20 and $25 if registration is made after that date. The evening includes dinner, the keynote presentation, discussion of research utilization related to complementary approaches and women's heart health, poster presentation and conference materials.
