Evelyn A. Eide, 84, Cherokee, died April 9, 2003 in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, Cherokee, following an extended illness.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee. Pastor James Steen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee,
She was born August 26,1918 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Ernest and Anna (Aalboe) Christensen. She was educated in Irene and Gayville, South Dakota, graduating in 1936. On February 25,1939 she married Art Eide in Yankton, South Dakota.
Evelyn and Art moved to Cherokee from Yankton, South Dakota, in 1956. Evelyn worked for Hawley-Allison and later Hope's Fashion Farm for many years. She will be remembered for being meticulous in appearance and could paint a room and still look "neat as a pin." She enjoyed her family and traveling. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband; one son Richard Eide, and his wife, Ruby, of Primghar; one daughter, Dianna Langholdt, and her husband, Terry, of Cherokee; Seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. One sister, Mildred Freng, of Yankton, South Dakota; one brother, Vernon Christensen, and his wife, Jean, of Vermillion, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters.
