Sioux Central students reached out in a big way this week as students, staff and faculty donated more than 12 boxes brimming with items to ship to soldiers in the Middle East.
Those items were dropped off for Operation Hometown Support, a local effort to reach out to soldiers from this area currently stationed overseas.
Students from both the Boomerang program and the Middle School Resource Room led the collection effort.
"We wanted to do what we could to support the troops and as a class we wanted to encourage the whole school to help out," said Erica Boettcher, resource room instructor.
Students collected everything from microwave popcorn to lip balm. Some also wrote letters to be sent to troops.
