Boji Bay announces expansion project

Thursday, April 10, 2003

Boji Bay Water Park plans to make a splash this summer with added attractions.

Park officials released information this week about the addition of "entertainment favorites, miniature golf, and amusement rides" to compliment the existing water park facility.

While further details about these attractions won't be released until later this week, Sharon Jurgenson, new marketing manager at Boji Bay, says the new attractions will be a draw for the area. "It is exciting for the park and the area due to the fact that this is a family fun park," Jurgenson said. "We are going to be offering more than the current water sites. It's going to mean new attractions that will accommodate our local residents as well as tourists into the area. We really do want to meet the needs of the changing times here in the Iowa Great Lakes."

Jurgenson said the addition of mini golf and rides will compliment the other Iowa Great Lakes attractions. "The new attractions will compliment the water park and will provide jobs," Jurgenson added. "The city of Milford will benefit with future business opportunities, and the Iowa Great Lakes will benefit from the progress and expansion that will be a boost to the economy for family entertainment."

Boji Bay co-owners Dr. Tim Cochran and Jack Clark conceived the idea for Boji Bay a decade ago and are excited to be adding to the facility this year. Jurgenson came on board in March as the facility's marketing manager. The position allows her to use her professionalism as a conference coordinator to assist in planning events, outings and company incentives. With favorable weather, the new attractions are set to be operational by Memorial Day. Boji Bay is slated to be open June 14 - Sept 3.
