BVU places first in five events

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Four individual events and one relay placed first to highlight Buena Vista's performance in the University of Sioux Falls Invitational track and field meet on Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Justin Welter won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 8 inches, while Kate Van Dusseldorp claimed the high jump in 5-2. Hilary Minish won the discus with a throw of 128-1 1/2. Chad Hinrichs won the 400 meters in 50.22 seconds, while the men's 4x400 relay team of Hinrichs, Welter, Eric Plunkett and Sonji Ketiku placed first in 3 minutes, 22.62 seconds.

Robby Beyer took second in the shot put with a throw of 46-10 1/4. Cody Konecne was eighth in 37-10. Beyer placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 135-6.

Plunkett placed seventh in the javelin with a throw of 126-11, while Justin Smith was eighth in 125-3.

Ryan Moenck finished seventh in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:23.12. Nick Backen was eighth in 4:23.89, Brett Sealine 11th in 4:28.65 and Kelby Nitz 12th in 4:29.87.
