SL Porcelain Artists to hold annual spring show

Monday, March 31, 2003

The Storm Lake Porcelain Artists will hold their third annual Spring Show and Porcelain Egg Sale on Saturday, April 5, at the Witter Gallery in Storm Lake from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 125 porcelain eggs have been painstakingly hand-painted and signed by members of the group.

The public is invited to attend the display and sale.

Each member will have a variety of their own pieces on display tables. Some of the artists will have pieces for sale in a separate area of the Gallery.

Coffee, punch and refreshments will be served using hand-painted coffee sets. Door prizes will be given every half hour to someone present.

A lemonade pitcher painted with blackberries by Arlene Blair and an oval box painted in art deco style by Dorothy Bonnes will be given to two individuals at the end of the show.

The proceeds of the sale will go into the Educational Fund for seminars with recognized teachers sharing new ideas and techniques to the group. Last year's seminars included sessions with Phyllis McElhenny of Lathrop, Mo., Arlene Blair from Rockwell City and Marilyn Mittelstadt of Storm Lake.

The Storm Lake club has 22 members hailing from Storm Lake, Newell, Lake City, Rockwell City, Sac City, Paullina, Sutherland, Sioux City and Cherokee. It is one of 22 clubs in Iowa which are members of the World Organization of China Painters headquartered in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Storm Lake group meets monthly at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
