Alta residents spoke about their visions for the future and what the critical issues facing the town today are during a citywide meeting Tuesday night, the latest step in a campaign to bring economic development to the community.
Approximately 35 residents attended the meeting, which included singing of patriotic songs, performances by Alta High speech students Jillian Carstensen and Brett Hahn, and a talk by Frank Spillers, the executive director of Cass County Economic Development in Atlantic. The crowd included members of the City Council, school district officials, local entrepreneurs, Kiwanis Club and American Legion members, and representatives from the Alta Chamber of Commerce.
The main emphasis of the evening was coming up with new ways to enhance the entire town, and Spillers, who has been involved with the Buena Vista County Economic Visioning project for the past year, said it is important for Altans to begin acting on ways to improve the community rather than just talking about it.
