SL school tax increase; 2 positions, bus route cut

Monday, March 17, 2003

The Storm Lake School Board is proposing an approximately 27 cent tax increase for the coming year.

Superintendent Bill Kruse delivered a report on the budget estimate for the 2003-04 fiscal year at this week's school board meeting.

Kruse said the levy rate is proposed to increase to $16.65 per $1,000.

There was a 50 cent increase in the current year's budget.

On working with the coming year's budget, the district used an allowable growth rate of 2 percent. The state legislature has indicated that's what it will approve.
