Despite the economic downturn plaguing other cities across the state as well as state government, the City of Storm Lake looks forward to another year of progress from employee retention to substantial capital improvement projects.
Other ideas explored at a budget workshop this week for the Storm Lake City Council include lakeshore beautification and paving both Vestal and Expansion Boulevard.
City Administrator John Call told council members that city government is on "solid financial footing."
"While other cities are laying off workers, and the state has a $400 million budget deficit, I'm happy to tell the council that we do have a balanced budget, we're not proposing any tax increases, and we're funding capital improvements in all funds," he said.
