SPENCER - Dylan Wagener finished second at his weight class and George Romualdo was third at his to help Storm Lake finish seventh in the Lakes Conference wrestling meet held on Friday night at Spencer.
Emmetsburg won the team title with 307 points. Storm Lake scored 80.5.
Wagener, wrestling at 130 pounds, won his matches by technical fall in 1 minute, 58 seconds, by major decision 10-1 and by pin in 5:07. He lost in the finals by decision 9-2.
Romualdo, who wrestles at 145, won by decision 8-1, lost by pin in 3:54, won by major decision 16-6 and was a winner by decision 4-2 in the third-place match.
Mark Wiley and Ryne Paterson placed fourth at 112 and 171, respectively. Wiley won by major decision 17-10, lost by decision 12-10, won by pin in 3:31 and lost by decision 7-6 in the third-place match.
Paterson lost by pin in 1:21, won by major decision 9-1, won by injury default and lost by pin in 2:36 in the third-place match.
Adam Kelly placed fifth at 125 pounds. Tyler Nichols and Jake Droessler finished sixth at 119 and 275 pounds, respectively.
"Dylan and George both had good meets and continue to improve," Storm Lake coach Ty Seaman said. "Mark, Ryne and Adam also did a nice job. We were a little disappointed in our overall finish. We just didn't score well at too many weights."
"We wrestled well at many weights, but it takes a team to score and place high in this meet," Seaman added. "We will work hard the next three weeks to be ready to wrestle our best in the district meet."
