G-H girls suffer first loss

Jennifer Schlinz finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, but it wasn't enough as eighth-ranked Galva-Holstein suffered its first loss of the season, 62-57 in double overtime to Woodbury Central in the finals of the Maple Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The game was tied at 13-13 after the first quarter. The Pirates led 25-24 at halftime, but Woodbury Central used a 17-7 spurt in the third period to take a 41-32 lead into the fourth.

Donna Hanson scored 13 points and had six rebounds, six assists and three steals for the Pirates. Penni Heitmann added nine points and eight rebounds.
