Betty Peck

Betty J. Peck, age 69, of Storm Lake, died Friday, January 24, 2003 at her home in Storm Lake of complications of lung cancer.

Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 28th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake with the Reverend Douglas Klein officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Betty Jean Kleespies was born November 17, 1933 at home in Carroll, the daughter of Isidore and Dorothy (Chesnut) Kleespies. Betty was baptized at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Carroll and received her 1st Communion on May 18, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She attended elementary school at St. Mary's and then attended Hayes Consolidated School where she graduated in 1951.

Betty worked as a waitress, then as a bookkeeper at Manawa Produce in Storm Lake and as a bookkeeper and production worker at Lakeside Specialty Company.

On November 20, 1954, she was married to Lloyd William Peck at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Lloyd died on August 20, 2001.

Betty was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she assisted by providing meals to the parish priests and as a volunteer in the parish office. Betty loved to work crossword and picture puzzles in her spare time.

Her family includes a sister Marilyn Mathews and her husband Arnold of Aberdeen, SD; sisters-in-law, Lois Peck, Betty L. Peck and Marge Peck all of Storm Lake, Janice Kleespies, Rialto, CA, Elizabeth Kleespies, Phoenix, AZ, Bernice Henke, Cherokee, Grace Coombs, Benson, AZ, Kathleen Letts, Spirit Lake and Rose Charboneau, Sioux City; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Peck, Portage, IN and Robert Peck and his wife, Kathy of Storm Lake. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends and her very special "pal", her dog Taffy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Thomas and Dennis Kleespies and by a niece Melinda Aldinger.
