Free throws help St. Mary's top 'Cats

Kyle Drey scored 19 points, and Storm Lake St. Mary's owned a huge advantage at the free-throw line to spark them to a 58-53 win in overtime in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday night at Storm Lake.

St. Mary's made 15 of 19 free throws in the game, including 8 of 8 in overtime, compared to Schaller-Crestland's 2 of 3.

St. Mary's jumped out to a 13-10 lead after the first quarter. It was 24-23 Panthers at the halftime break. Schaller-Crestland took a 37-36 lead into the fourth period of play. It was tied at 46-46 at the end of regulation.

Billy Mach scored 14 points for the Panthers, while Matthew Smith added nine, Tim Brown eight and Jeff Speers seven.

Drey cleared nine rebounds, while Smith had eight and Brown six. Mach handed out seven assists and Ryan Gessner added four. Mach charted three steals and Drey two.
