Friends in high places

Tuesday, December 17, 2002

Kimberly Richardson was a guest recently at President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where she attended the 21st birthday party of the President's twin daughters, Barbara and Jena. Kimberly and Barbara Bush attend Yale University, as close friends and sorority sisters.

Kimberly is the granddaughter of Rae Richardson of Storm Lake and the daughter of Ken and Christina Richardson. Ken was a 1958 graduate of Storm Lake High School.

The party guests were invited to attend the Texas vs. Texas A&M football game from a private box where they met former President Bush and his wife Barbara - the namesake of Kimberly's friend from Yale. The next day, the party guests were driven to the ranch where they had a sit-down dinner with the President and First Lady. Following dinner, they danced into the early morning hours and enjoyed a huge bonfire which had been built for the occasion. The guests stayed overnight at the ranch and enjoyed brunch with the President the next morning.

Kimberly is a senior at Yale, majoring in American Studies. She is a varsity swimmer and a founding member of an all-female comedy performing group. Immediately following graduation in May, she has volunteered to be co-leader on a 4000 mile, cross-country bike tour to raise money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity, an international charity.
