Funeral services for Harry Swanson, 84, of Aurelia, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with Pastor Jim Steen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia.
Harry died Wednesday, December 11, at Vista Well Life in Alta.
He was born October 1, 1918, the son of John and Ida (Isakson) Swanson, northeast of Aurelia. Harry farmed in Cherokee County all of his working life. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Harry loved to spoil his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed nature, especially spending time at Martin's Access and watching the swans at Larson Lake.
Preceding Harry in death were his parents, two brothers, Albert and Alvar Swanson, one sister, Margaret Cushman, and two brothers-in-law, George Cushman and Marty Silseth.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Mark Swanson of Hurricane, Utah, one sister, Vera Silseth of Brookfield, WI; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Carlson of Aurelia, and Gwendolyn Lindberg of Winterset. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Richard and his wife Marsha Swanson of West Bend, Steven and his wife Colleen Swanson of Alta, Paulette and her husband Dennis Erlandson of Storm Lake, Pauline and her husband George Lightsey of Collins, MS, John and his wife Karen Silseth of Brookfield, WI., Kris and her husband David Peterson of Hampton, Ruth and her husband Craig Marcott of St. Paul, MN, Karen McMillian of Seguin, TX, and Susan and her husband Ken Beck of Dallas, TX, and numerous great nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews, and many friends.
