Funeral services for Karl Francis Marker, 87, formerly of Webb, were held Monday, December 9, at the United Methodist Church in Webb with Reverend Tonna Parsons and Reverend Elliott Butler III officiating. Interment was in Garfield Cemetery in Webb.
Karl Francis Marker, the son of Charles F. Marker (son of Peter F. Marker and Charlotte Scott) and Mary Katherine Gleason Marker (daughter of George A. Gleason and Mary Lucille Bucher), was born July 26, 1915, in Logan Township near Webb. His childhood years were spent in the Webb and Gillett Grove areas where he received his education, graduating from Gillett Grove High School. Karl married Ardith Marie Johns on August 1, 1943, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they farmed near Webb for many years. Karl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webb. He was active member of Perfection Masonic Lodge in Webb, where he was past master. He was past Watchman of the Shepherds of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, past commander of Azotus Commandry in Spencer, Order of the Eastern Star, as well as chairman of the Administration Board of the United Methodist Church.
His wife referred to him as the "Good Humor Man."
Mr. Marker passed away at the Bickford Cottage Assisted Living Facility in Sioux City, on Friday, December 6, at the age of 87.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Richard and Patricia Marker, of Maynard, Minn; two daughters and their husbands: Karla and Don Puttman of Sioux City, and Karen and Tom Stack of Lincoln, Neb; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Keith, his wife, Ardith, in 1994.
