Joseph Frank Anderson, 99, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake. Funeral services are today, Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in rural Meriden. Visitation was yesterday at the Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Joseph Frank Anderson was born on May 7, 1903, in Liberty Township, Cherokee County, to Oscar and Selma (Waddell) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in rural Meriden.
He attended the country school near his home through the eighth grade. On Dec. 19, 1924, Joseph married Ruth Johnson and this union was blessed with nine children.
Joseph worked in the agricultural field in many ways including in the trucking business, as an elevator manager, in maintenance, as well as in implement sales.
On March 19, 1971, Joseph married Margaret Moritz in Jackson, Minn. He retired in 1980. He enjoyed fishing and spent many days on or near the lake. He also enjoyed collecting coins.
Joseph is survived by four sons, Verland Anderson and his wife Georgia of Sioux City, Willis Anderson and his wife Joyce of Alta, James Anderson and his wife Rose of Woodstock, Minn., and Dale Anderson and his wife Carolyn of Spencer; three daughters, Millette Gripp of Prescott, Ariz., Delores Smith of Storm Lake; and Evelyn Borron and her husband Darwin of Storm Lake; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth and his wife Margaret, two sons Lawrence Anderson and Robert Anderson, his two brothers Dave Anderson and Raymond Anderson, and his two sisters Florence Lundell and Evelyn Anderson.
