Benefit set for Guard members and families

The Storm Lake Iowa Army National Guard Family Support Group is hosting an Auction and Soup Supper Benefit on Saturday, December 7th, 2002 from 5-7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Storm Lake (1601 Park Street).

The menu will include a choice of chili or chicken noodle soup, sandwich, and dessert. Cost is $5 for an adult, $3 for a student, 3 and under are free. Proceeds will be used for holiday gatherings and gifts for 50 children of the soldiers, care packages, phone cards, and the welcome home celebration.

* GUARD CARDS - The Pilot-Tribune is also working with the Iowa National Guard to help local citizens send greetings to the area Guard members.

At this time, the location of the soldiers is considered "protected" information. However, those who wish to support the troops in this manner to assemble cards and letters in a larger envelope and mail them to:

Headquarters, 1st Battalion, 194th Field Artillery, 1659 Nelson Avenue, Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501-8517. They should add a remark in the lower left-hand

corner of this outside envelope - "Forward to deployed soldiers per Colonel Robert King". The Fort Dodge office will simply forward the packages on to the deployment locations.
