Citizens Bank buys former sale barn site

Monday, December 2, 2002

Room for more development

Citizens First National Bank has purchased the former Sale Barn property at North Lake Avenue and C-49, adjacent to the construction site of the new Wal-Mart Super Center. A new branch bank is planned for the location.

"Some of the major routes in the community meet at that corner, and we are also keeping in mind what we expect to be the future growth of the community. We feel that this location will be an important one as Storm Lake continues to grow," said Harry P. Schaller of Citizens First National Bank. "We feel that we have very good people and very strong services, and now our goal is to put them where the customers need them."

Plans for the new bank are still being formed, and no construction date has been set. There is more land in the parcel than the bank will need, and Schaller said he is hopeful that more retail or service developments may follow.

"We are very excited about this opportunity," Schaller said. "We are still looking at this area and assessing the community's needs so that we can take our planning in those directions."

Citizens First National also has branch banks on Flindt Drive in Storm Lake and in Early.
