Provides the city of Storm Lake and the surrounding area with art displays, shows, and classes for all ages.
The anniversary celebration will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Monday night, Dec. 2, in conjunction with the Gallery's "2002 Holiday Biennial" exhibition and the city of Storm Lake's annual "Miracle on Lake Avenue."
The celebration is free and open to the public and will be held at the Witter Gallery, located at 609 Cayuga Street in the Storm Lake Public Library building. The event incorporates an artist reception for the Dec. 2-31 juried exhibition. "2002 Holiday Biennial" and the Witter Gallery's 30th anniversary celebration.
Activities for the celebration include a welcome by Witter Gallery director Amanda Kelly and a juror's comment by Mary Mello-Nee, Assistant Professor of Art at Buena Vista University, at 6:15 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the Buena Vista University's Choir's Madrigal Singers will perform.
Throughout the evening, refreshments will be served, and event goers will have the opportunity to enjoy the current show, meet the artists, and gather information about upcoming art exhibits, classes, and special events.
"The Witter Gallery's goal is to involve everyone from the community in the event and encourage those young and old and of every background to attend this free event." Kelly said. "Come one, come all and help keep the Witter Gallery a Storm Lake tradition of artistic success."
The Witter Gallery has served as an artistic expression of Storm Lake since 1972. The Gallery has offers monthly exhibitions for the enjoyment of regional residents. It provides the community with educational services ranging from lectures, demonstrations and performances, to hands-on workshops and classes for adults and children.
