Chad Hustedt rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns, and Daniel Lichter added 89 yards rushing and three touchdowns to help lift Galva-Holstein to a perfect regular season with a 52-0 win over Woodbine last Friday night at Holstein.
Galva-Holstein enters the playoffs with the No. 1 ranking in Class 1A at 9-0. The Pirates will play Manson Northwest Webster (6-3) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Holstein.
Galva-Holstein rushed for 448 yards in the game on 50 attempts. Evan Platt rushed for 82 yards for the Pirates.
Galva-Holstein's defense held Woodbine to just 57 yards rushing and 27 passing.
Lichter scored on a 75-yard kickoff return, an 11-yard run and a 5-yard run. Hustedt scored on TD runs of 28, 36 and 12 yards.
Quarterback Matt Egger added a 4-yard run and Andrew Butcher a 13-yard TD jaunt.
Elijah Kastner led the Pirates on defense with nine tackles. Keith Hustedt had five and Derek Leonard four.
"It was a great effort to end the regular season," said Galva-Holstein coach Brad Knight. "The JV players played well in the third and fourth quarters."
Knight looked ahead to Wednesday night's state quarterfinal playoff matchup against Manson Northwest Webster.
"They are very big and they are very physical," he said. "They have three very good backs. We will have to play our best game to date to give ourselves a chance."
