Christina M. Sampers, age 92, of Storm Lake, died Saturday, November 2, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake with the Reverend Douglas Klein officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Christina Margaretha Werkmeister was born April 5, 1910, in Odebolt, the daughter of Ferdinand and Lena (Rippel) Werkmeister. She attended Odebolt Schools.
On October 6, 1932, she was married to Joseph J. Sampers in South Sioux City, Neb. He died on September 18, 1998.
Christina was a member of the Church of Saint Mary and was a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Mary's Guild. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and craft making and she loved to travel.
Her family includes her children; Marjorie and Richard Andrews, Storm Lake, Donald Sampers, Apple Valley, MN., Phyllis and Merlin Davis, Storm Lake, Robert and Pam Sampers, Alta, Joyce and Garry Olson, Storm Lake, Beverly Jorgensen and John Rogers, Irvine, CA and Mark and Camille Sampers, Burnsville, MN; a daughter-in-law, Sue Sampers, Cedar Rapids; two children whom she raised; James Sampers who was killed in action in Vietnam, his wife Patty Sampers lives in Denver, CO and Betty Sampers Jacobs and her husband, Joe of Sioux City.
Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, a brother, Ralph and Elnora Werkmeister of Sac City; two sisters-in-law, Velma Werkmeister, Fort Dodge, Matilda Werkmeister, Sac City; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Francis and David; a grandson Timothy; a great granddaughter Jennifer; three brothers, Raymond, Clifford and Orie Werkmeister and by her nephew James Sampers.
