Ruby L. Carroll, age 93, of Storm Lake died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at the Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake following lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 4, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with the Reverend Duane Queen officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for Buena Vista Manor Activities Fund.
Ruby Leota Geary was born May 26,1909 in Wallingford,the daughter of Ben H. and Ethel (Woodling) Geary. She graduated from Sac City High School.
Ruby was married to Wilford Kerlin Carroll in 1928 at Sac City. The couple owned and operated C & E Auto Parts in Redwood Falls, Minn., for 27 years before moving to Tucson, AZ. Following Mr. Carroll's death in 1969, Ruby moved to Storm Lake.
She was a Life Master Duplicate Bridge player and studied oil painting under Mary Rhodes of Okoboji and Florida. Ruby was a voracious reader and especially liked biographies and historical novels.
Her family includes a son Paige Carroll and his wife, Marian of Indio, CA; two grandchildren: Scott Carroll of Anoka, MN and Lisa Gaye Turney of Gunnison, CO; three great grandchildren: Teather Turney and Judson Turney of Elizabeth, CO and Tania Turney of Castle Rock, CO; two great-great granddaughers: Jordan Lawrence and Bailey Roberts.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
