Schaller-Crestland can't stop Lakeland's running attack

Monday, November 4, 2002

Toad Loder rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns to help Lakeland hand Schaller-Crestland a 41-14 defeat in the season finale on Friday night at Early.

Lakeland scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to make it a 41-0 game. John Hansen scored on a 3-yard run and Loder had TD runs of 3 and 5 yards.

Schaller-Crestland got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns. Nathan Johnson ran 3 yards for a score and Jeff Witzke took it in from 2 yards out.

Lakeland finished the game with 307 yards rushing on 45 attempts. The Wildcats had 181 yards on 42 carries.

Witzke rushed for 121 yards on 26 carries to lead the Wildcats. Tyler Meusburger ran for 53 yards on 10 attempts.

Quarterback Kevin Drake completed 4 of 12 passes for 47 yards.

Schaller-Crestland's defense was led by Jim Alesch, who had 21 tackles. Witzke added 11 and Calvin Kluver seven.

"They looked like a different team from a week ago (in a 12-0 loss to Rockwell City-Lytton)," said Schaller-Crestland coach Doug Davidson. "They just basically took it to us. We had a difficult time stopping their run. We turned the ball over a couple of times and that hurt. The main thing was we just could not stop their run."

Schaller-Crestland finished the season 5-4 overall.
